ULUDAG SKI CENTER

Uludağ Ski Centre is composed of two seperate parts. It has a Ist and 2nd Development Zone. There are 16 hotels up and running in the Ist Zone where the investments have been completed. In the 2nd Zone where it had been declared as a "Tourism Centre" in 1986 has a 3300 bed capacity, a parcel of land for 11 hotels has been arranged and allocated to the Investors. Furthermore there are various state-owned facilities and a hotel in Uludağ Ski Centre, 12 Public and 15 owned by the private sector. In total 27 accommodation facilities exist and a 3000 bed capacity. In addition to the hotels, shopping and entertainment centres, a health clinic also serves in Uludağ Ski Centre. In Uludağ Ski Centre there are Ski Rooms for hire, skiing kits for sale and ski trainers available for ski courses.


Ski Tracks


In Uludağ Ski Centre the ski tracks are about 20km long. In order to make Northern and Alphine Style Skiing, tour skiing and snowboarding there are suitable areas available also for Heliskiing. In Uludağ Ski Centre the height of the snow can reach upto 3 metres high during the winter. In Uludağ Ski Centre there are 8 chair-lifts and 7 teleskis serving.

The best times for skiing in Uludağ is during the period between December 20th and March 20th. Uludağ Ski Centre gets about 3 metres of snow under normal winter conditions displaying powdery snow at the beginning and dewy snow towards the end of winter. Uludağ's Ski Centre's hotel region include 8 chair-lifts and 7 teleskis in the 15 mechanical facilities there are 11000 person/hour capacity existing and 13 various ski tracks in the ski centre.

Transportation


Transportaion to Uludağ Ski Centre can be accessed both by land and teleferic. There are in total four teleferic lines two of them in Bursa Kadıyayla (1235m) and two in Kadıyayla Sarı Alan (1621m). On every line a cable car carrying 30 people runs. However it is forbidden to convey the skiing kits by teleferic. Minibuses work from Sarı Alan to Uludağ Ski Centre to the hotel region. The distance between Sarı Alan and Uludağ Ski Centre's hotel region is 7 km. Moreover in the summer time from Sarı Alan to Çoban Kaya (1750m) can be accessed by chair-lift. The trip takes nearly 45 minutes.
 

The road from the centre of Uludag to the National Park entrance is 22 km,from the National Park to Uludağ Ski Centre the hotel region is 12 km. A Minibus and taxicab from Bursa city central to Uludağ can be found any hour of the day during winter.

 

Climbing up to Uludağ Ski Centre by minibus takes on average about 1hr 3o minutes. If accessing Uludağ Ski Centre by private vehicle Çekirge route is the appropriate option from Bursa. In winter chains, chock and tow rope should be carried in all vehicles. On the way to Uludağ there are stores to buy or hire chains.

Skiing in ULUDAG

The skiing area of Uludag is 1750 - 2547 m high and covered with forests. The duration of skiing is 120 days a year. The most suitable skiing conditions are between 20 December and 1 March. The average snow fall is 3 m in winter. At the beginning of the season the type of snow is ''powdery snow'' and at the end of the season the snow characteristic is slightly "slushy".

This center has suitable conditions for Alpine skiing, ski touring, cross country and heli-skiing. Uludag Ski center is qualified skiing instructors and equipment for hire are available. The center has first aid facilities and a rural clinic. Accommodations can be booked directly. High season is between November and April. No rooms available especially at weekends and holidays; do book before taking off. Prices increase in special periods like school holidays, religious fests falling in winter, and Christmas.
